Collecting post-class feedback from the kiosk

Ask members how class went on their way out. Aggregate by instructor, class, or member — and surface struggling classes early.

On this page

The kiosk can ask members a single question on their way out of class: "How was class?" with a 1-to-5 rating and an optional comment. Over time this becomes an early-warning system for classes or instructors that are trending down.

Turning it on

Under Settings → Kiosk → Feedback, toggle "Ask for rating on check-out" and customize the prompt.

Check-out vs check-in

Feedback is collected on check-out, not check-in. Members tap out when they leave, which prompts the rating. If you only use check-in, feedback stays dormant.

What members see

A simple 5-star row with the class name and instructor. Optional comment box. They can skip — skipping isn't recorded as a negative.

Tip: keep it to one question

Don't pile on follow-up questions. The value is in getting a high response rate from every class, which only happens if the interaction is under 10 seconds.

Where the data lives

Per-class summary

On any class in the calendar, open the class detail and you'll see average rating for this session, plus the text comments (anonymized or not, your choice).

Per-instructor trend

Reports → Staff shows each instructor's rolling rating over time. Drill in to see which classes are trending up or down.

Per-member history

On a member's profile, their Feedback tab shows every rating they've left. Useful for understanding complaints in context ("this member gives every class 2 stars — maybe they're just the critical type").

Acting on bad ratings

One-off bad rating

Don't overreact. A single 1-star doesn't mean anything — people have bad days.

A pattern emerges

If a specific class or instructor is dropping week over week, flag it in your next 1:1 with the instructor. Feedback comments often contain the actual reason (music too loud, running late, favorites).

Member-specific dissatisfaction

A member whose ratings are consistently low is a churn risk. Consider reaching out.
